The Super Nintendo has been somewhat forgotten by most people – younger players may never even have heard of it. But old does not mean bad, and some Super Nintendo games are so fantastic to play they eclipse any modern game in the same genre. Sometimes the oldies are the goodies. You don’t need amazing graphics to have great game play, in fact most modern games focus more on graphics than game play. Which is why some of the best games of all time are on 8 bit and 16 bit systems.

But how does anyone go about playing a Super Nintendo these days? The old gray boxes are hard to find, since most people just threw them away when newer consoles like the original Playstation came along, and some people even value them as collector pieces, so even if you can find one, it might not be cheap!

Well, the good news is that you don’t need an old SNES to be able to play SNES games. It’s possible to use an “emulator” on your desktop or laptop running Windows, Mac or Linux and play those great old games on your modern computer. Don’t underestimate how brilliant games like the original Super Mario Kart are – it’s surely better, game play wise, than any of its sequels. Just pure and simple, unadulterated fun. No clutter with extra weapons and stuff you don’t need, just the basics.

So what are some of the best SNES games? Try Super Mario World – one of my personal favorites. In it you have a vast and interesting world to explore, with a cool variety of enemies to encounter. Or how about Desert Strike, a helicopter combat game where you fight against terrorists, using guns, missiles and rockets to take out strategic infrastructure? Get a SNES emulator today and enjoy some of the best games ever!
