Just be careful to purchase what you really like and need. Small kitchen appliances occasionally tend to seem less interesting after they’re bought. Doesn’t it sound like you to buy something new and fancy and realize that you don’t really get around to using it anymore? There are ways to combat this psychological issue, or at least blunt out the edge of it. It’s not only a much better financial investment to use everything you have, but you get to eat more toast and donuts as well!

When you buy or build your house, the furniture is completely missing. In just a month or two later all the rooms are fitted with wardrobes, tables and chairs. The kitchen is exactly the same; you install the counter top, and buy a table with chairs just to have somewhere to eat, and the small pieces come a little later. It’s not a problem, the contrary in fact. How would you choose the right set of appliances if you didn’t know what the place would look like with them?

You need to inhabit the place slowly but steadily, giving it a soul. A red toaster wouldn’t work in any kitchen, but it might be the perfect solution for yours. Who knows, you may even find it hip. Making the toast is the number one priority, of course, but why wouldn’t you buy a toaster that doesn’t look like it’s been ripped off from an advertisement from the 1960′s. Make it red, make it hip, and make it so that you don’t forget that it’s there.

The other pieces usually come one by one. It’s usually the first thing for people to buy a microwave oven; it doesn’t matter if all the rooms are empty, at least they can get their coffee warmed. A donut maker is somewhere between an electric can opener and the ice maker that makes banana shaped ice cubes in importance. Most people don’t make that many donuts at home, but when they do, it can be very handy.

Treating your kitchen to a few appliances is not a one-off purchase. It’s not life-like to think that you can go and buy everything all at once. Most people turn their kitchen into the place where they store their appliance-collection, but you don’t have to surround yourself with useless this and that. Take your time and think about what you need and only purchase things you really want and will use.
